Oven-Dried Strawberries

I was recently shooting a TV segment for the Today show with my favourite kitchen cook guru Jane De Graff and she had made these to top one of the dishes we had on set. I cannot tell you how delicious they are! Just like a strawberry crisp and a burst of flavour in your mouth. I had to get the recipe to share... so here you go with thanks to Queensland Strawberries.  

What can you do with your oven-dried strawberries?
  • Sprinkle over yoghurt, breakfast cereal, overnight oats or porridge.
  • Make a homemade trail mix (as pictured) - combine your oven-dried strawberries with mixed nuts, seeds and dark chocolate in a clean jar, shake to mix. Perfect for a mid-afternoon snack.
  • Serve on a platter with cheese and crackers. 
  • Add to your muffin mix before baking for a chewy strawberry burst of sweetness.
They take a little time, but the only effort required is slicing up your strawberries. So worth it.

INGREDIENTS

2 punnets (500g) fresh strawberries

METHOD

Step 1

Preheat oven to 90 degrees Celsius.

Step 2

Slice strawberries and lay out on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Place in the oven to dry for 2-3 hours. They are ready when the moisture has evaporated ad they can be peeled off the paper with ease.

Step 3

Cool completely and store in a clean, airtight container for up to a week.
